HTC has released new information on the upcoming Viveport Infinity payment model for the digital store for HTC Vive, HTC Vive Pro and Oculus Rift. While the launch of the Netflix-style subscription with unlimited access to VR content has already been released, the monthly price is now known. Accordingly, the Infinity subscription costs either 14.99 euros a month or once 114 euros per year.
Viveport Infinity – New payment model from 2 April for € 14.99 per month available
The new subscription model Viveport Infinity will officially launch on April 2 on its own Viveport digital platform. The new payment model makes it possible to use the digital store without any limitations, allowing unlimited access to all VR content. This allows users to choose from over 600 VR games and experiences and use them at their own convenience. In addition, there will be exclusive discounts and promotions for members to buy more games and free titles for permanent retention in their own library.
Now the monthly price for access to the VR games and experiences has been officially announced. Accordingly, the subscription costs 14.99 euros per month or once a year 114 euros (equivalent to 9.50 euros per month). In addition, existing Viveport customers will still be able to register before April 2 to receive a monthly price reduction in the first year at the current subscription price (€ 9.99 per month).
Rikard Steiber, President of Viveport, finds optimistic words about the new Infinity subscription and announces higher sales potential for developers at the same time:
“We’ve developed a new model for VR that sheds light on the great array of VR content this industry has developed, giving users a reason to spend more time with their VR glasses than ever before. At the same time, we’re increasing the reach and revenue potential for developers as devs get more monetization opportunities for individual Infinity users. We believe that this model is more in line with how consumers really want to experience VR. “
As of April 1, developers will be rewarded with 10% more revenue for sales. According to this, 80% of the sales turnover goes to the responsible devs.
