Sling TV on Oculus TV now supports multiplayer viewing. This means that if you and your friends are Sling TV subscribers, you will be able to watch movies together in VR from anywhere using Oculus Go.

Sling TV is a streaming television service available on many platforms. Channels available in various packages include Disney Channel, CNN, USA, Cartoon Network and Discovery. Sling also offers a cloud-based DVR service. The application was released on Oculus TV back in December along with ESPN and FOX NOW.

Oculus TV was announced on the F8 2019 as the flagship feature of the Oculus Go, a multimedia viewing device. At that time, Facebook talked about social browsing so you can watch movies, shows, and events with friends.

To use the service, simply go to the Oculus TV app during the Oculus party. Select the Sling TV application, and any other Sling users should see your Oculus avatar and the same screen when you open Oculus TV.

Please note that co-viewing does not support movie rentals or cloud DVR recordings.

Oculus TV is also available on Oculus Quest, but the Sling TV application update has not yet been released on Quest, and there is no mention of whether it will be at all. While the headsets have the same Android basics, Facebook is positioning Quest as a gaming device, and a Go-media device.

Stay up to date with the latest Oculus Go along with VRcue.
