Developer Studio Coatsink (aka Augmented Empire) releases Shadow Point, a new VR puzzler for Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift S. The VR title was unveiled at the current GDC in 2019 and includes a special guest to take players through history to lead: Sir Patrick Stewart acts as a narrator for the puzzle adventure.
Shadow Point – Narrative VR puzzle adventure for Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift S
The VR puzzler Shadow Point lets players immerse themselves in a fantastic world, in search of a missing schoolgirl. The girl Lorna McCabe disappeared without a trace 12 years ago, now it is your job to pick up the clues and the events around to uncover the mysterious disappearance.
For this you rely on a special tool to move you between different worlds. With a kind of monocle, you can look through space and time and get different perspectives on the world around you. In addition, the tool allows you to manipulate the objects in your environment. This is especially important for solving puzzles, because it is often necessary to change the shape of objects and to fill in a given pattern by throwing the shadow.
You can choose from teleportation, snap-turn or free movement options to move around. Stylistically, the VR title is based on a low-poly style, which is used in titles such as Windlands.
As guest counter, none other than Sir Patrick Stewart (known among others for his role as Captain Picard in Star Trek) was hired to guide players through the tutorial and the story, bringing the game mechanics closer.
Shadow Point is due to be released in spring 2019 as the launch title for the Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift S (and Oculus Rift).
