Good news! New game Resident Evil VR is on the way! The bad news! This is only for Japanese arcades … for now.
Capcom launches Biohazard: Valiant Raid at its Plaza Capcom Ikebukuro store near Tokyo next week. The experience will be part of the new installation of the VR-X facility. Biohazard is, of course, the official name of the Resident Evil series in Japan, and the initials Valiant Raid is, well, you understand.
According to the official website, Valiant Raid will cast players as special forces against Umbrella Corporation. You are going to the lab, overflowing with zombies. You can probably guess what follows next.
We do not yet have official screenshots of the experience, but there are some key points. You can see four characters owning two different cannons and surrounded by zombies. In the background you can see the terrifying Tyrant, famous for his insistent pursuit of Leon and Claire in Resident Evil 2. The idea of meeting him in VR is more than a little scary.
VR arcade has become the center for testing popular gaming franchises in VR, especially in Japan. This is where Mario Kart VR first started its journey and other games such as Dragon Quest also have VR arcade roots. In the West, meanwhile, the Halo VR arcade experience is on the way out.
The experience opens on July 19th. Unfortunately, there is no news about the western issue for him. Of course, Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 remains one of the best VR-compatible games. It was launched exclusively on PSVR back in 2017 and offers some of the worst thrills you can feel inside the headset. We still had our fingers crossed that Capcom was working on another full Resident Evil VR game for the future, but for now VRcue will keep you up to date.
