Thanks to video games such as Beat Saber, BoxVR and others, fitness has become a growing trend in virtual reality (VR), allowing players to burn multiple calories at home while having fun. Indie-Polish studio Fit Reality announced its transition to the Viro Move genre last month, today, taking it one step further by opening a fitness contest in collaboration with HTC Vive.
The Vive Viro VR Fitness Challenge will begin in late August and will be available throughout the month. Viro Move is not yet available, so to participate in the contest you need to register here. After that, you will receive a key for 150 days, including an adapted version of the video game.
This complex version of Viro Move will include three modes, a tutorial, a free game, and a challenge mode. A game textbook will always be available, which will allow players to master the mechanics to the end. In Freeplay, players can practice light and medium levels up to a maximum of 20 times, and the mode becomes inaccessible after the 20th session. While the challenge mode has only 12 general attempts to get the best result for each style of sports load: boxing, shooting, playing with swords and mixed weapons.
The assembly will also feature only four environments (fishing pier, Stonehenge, Roman ruins, a glass bridge), four combat avatars and four songs.
No contest will be complete without cool prizes. So:
● The top 30 participants will receive the full version of Vire Move.
● The top 5 applicants will win the HTC Vive virtual reality helmet.
● The top 10 applicants will be eligible to participate in the 2020 World Fitness Championships.
“Viro Move was built by gamers who felt they weren’t moving enough. #MOVEMORE is a simple but powerful message for all people whose life can be better if they add a little daily physical activity. We are proud that HTC Vive supports this message and we are inviting the VR community to help us get started, ”says Paul Lynch of Fit Reality in a statement.
To accept the challenge, you’ll need an HTC Vive or Oculus Rift headset. For more information, including how the scoring system works, go to the official competition website. The Vive Viro VR Fitness Challenge runs from August 29 to September 26, 2019.
