Having taken part in the global VR / AR accelerator HTC Vive X, which debuted in 2017, the Italian startup Mindesk has now managed to get an investment of 900 thousand dollars, which will allow him to transfer offices in San Francisco.
HTC Vive, Barcamper Ventures, A11 Venture and Invitalia Ventures participated in the seed round, which will further help Mindesk to develop its CAD platform.
Founded in 2015 in Bari, Italy by CEO and co-founder Gabriele Sorrento, Mindesk was created to help real-time collaboration, which allows multiple users to view, create and edit 3D models in virtual reality (VR).
“Tired of spending hours exporting your CAD model to third-party game engines? We made it possible to transfer directly to VR in just one click without model preparation or export. Our clients are active mainly in the fields of architecture, shipbuilding, industrial design and creative arts, ”says Sorrento.
As for the future of Mindesk, Sorrento mentions:
“Future products will scale to other CAD, including SolidWorks – parametric CAD, widely used in mechanical engineering. Participants who tried it on SolidWorksWorld 2019 in Dallas found the solution intuitive and appealing. We collected applications of interested designers and launched a closed beta version at the end of February. ”
Many more companies tend to look closely at B2B VR applications, such as the VRtuoso presentation platform. As the sector expands its capabilities, VRcue will keep you updated on the latest developments.
