Do you see the error “We’re Having Trouble Starting Oculus” while trying to use the Oculus Rift?
This error occurs when the Oculus runtime service is corrupted or when the Rift software itself is corrupted.
Fortunately, this is usually fairly easy to fix:
- Go to oculus.com/setup
- Click “Download Oculus Rift Software”, then run the downloaded file.
- Click the restore button
If all goes well, the Oculus software and your Rift should start working completely again. Do not worry, your Rift games and save data should be unchanged.
If the software still does not work, it often means that the anti-virus software on your computer blocks the Rift drivers. Try adding the entire Oculus software folder as an exception to the antivirus or remove the antivirus and use the built-in Windows Defender if you have Windows 10.
We also recommend that you use this opportunity to update your video card drivers, as this is often the cause of other PC VR problems that may arise in the future.
