Could this mean the end of content development for Oculus?

Insomniac Games has been a longtime supporter of virtual reality (VR), creating Edge of Nowhere, Feral Rights and Unspoken, as well as Stormland, which is still under development. These were all exclusive to the Oculus Rift, but this trend could be over. It has recently been announced that Insomniac Games has joined PlayStation Worldwide Studios.

“We are proud to announce that we are joining the @playstation WWS family!”

“@InsomniacGames will join the international PlayStation studio! We are honored and joy to join forces with this legendary developer. Please join us in congratulating our friends and partners at Insomniac! ”

In addition to the announcement on Twitter, it is worth noting that the Insomniac Games studio has long been associated with Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and the PlayStation brand. She recently released Marvel’s Spider-Man as an exclusive to the PlayStation 4.

“We have been working with Sony for over 20 years, covering all four PlayStation consoles, 20 games and six franchises,” said Ted Price, founder of Insomniac Games on his blog.

However, speaking as a member of PlayStation Worldwide Studios, it can be concluded that all of his video games will now be exclusive to the platform, which will also include VR games. As already mentioned, the studio is currently developing Stromland in conjunction with Oculus Studios. Therefore, problems with the game should not arise. But this may mean that the PlayStation VR version may eventually come out on the console, and most importantly, any further VR projects will be exclusive to the PlayStation VR.

Companies like SIE and the Microsoft Studios division have always grabbed small developers, but this trend seems to be progressing as they strive to provide increasingly exclusive content for their respective platforms.

Stormland is still scheduled for 2019 for the Oculus Rift. The game puts players in the role of a robot that just turns out to be a gardener on an alien planet. This was until the storm destroyed your android body, so you must travel all over the planet to collect yourself again and save your friends. Thanks to both single-player and multi-player game modes, players will have complete freedom. They will be able to run, climb and fly in vast areas.
