The developers of Oculus Go presented glasses software updates, which add new sections of power settings, sound settings for video recording and much more.
Power settings allow you to turn on and off battery saving mode (Battery Saver, added at the end of last year), and also to determine whether you need to wake glasses automatically when recognizing user activity. You can also set how long the device must wait before “falling asleep” after you have removed it.
The videos recorded in Oculus Go are now with sound. Previously, the video bloggers had to use the 3.5mm port on the glasses for a separate sound extraction and synchronize it with the video. This is a very welcome change that makes it easy to publish content from Go to video hosting sites.
An interesting innovation was the consolidation of the option “Report users in social / multiplayer” in the main menu. At any time, you can simply click the “Report” button, and it will display a list of all you have recently played with, and also offer to start recording a video clip.
All of the listed updates will not go to you immediately. Instead, they unfold in “waves.” Moreover, some functions are activated on the server side, so getting the update does not mean that you get all the innovations announced.
In the past few months, Facebook also implemented a detailed data storage configuration feature in Go. Before that, you could only see the amount of remaining space. The new storage manager shows the space used by each application, video files and images. Given the relatively small Go drive and the lack of an SD card slot, this makes it much more convenient to decide on how to remove unnecessary data.
The Oculus user interface has become faster, especially in a web browser. Facebook is probably working hard to optimize the operating system for the spring release of Oculus Quest. With a higher price of $ 399 dollars, users’ expectations of the system will also increase, they will have to meet.
